Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District
Under the supervision of the Comprehensive Planning Manager, to perform a wide variety of planning tasks necessary in support of the day-to-day functions of the Regional Planning Agency.
Job duties include: conducting land use analyses, transportation and other planning related studies; drafting plan elements (Master Plans, Housing Production Plans, Open Space and Recreation Plans, etc.), preparing bylaw amendments, and managing geo-databases; working with local committees; making presentations at public meetings; coordinating efforts with others, and helping facilitate enhanced planning coordination across the SRPEDD region. Other duties as assigned. Attendance at some night meetings required.
A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or closely related field is preferred; AICP membership a plus.

Responsible for coordinating and managing the operations of the following departments; Building and Zoning, Conservation, Planning and Economic Development. The Community Development & Planning Department seeks an individual to provide planning analysis of transportation projects and initiatives, coordinates the Town's transportation functions, implementation of transportation management association (TMA), staff support to the Watertown Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, prepares monthly information packages for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. This senior planner writes reports, reviews plans and legal documents and makes recommendations. Coordinates with the Department of Public Works, Mass DOT, MBTA and others. Coordinates transportation policy and planning efforts for the Town with private and non-profit developers as well as other Town and State offices. Supports other long and short range planning efforts.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or Transportation Planning related field and 3 years of transportation planning experience, Masters Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills and a valid Massachusetts driver's license with good driving record.
